Having a base in two different states (Texas and California), we were lucky enough to be able to shower our twins in both places. I wrote about my Dallas shower here, but today I’m going to share the LA shower my sister-in-law Sophie threw us. She did a “The Land Before Time” jungle themed shower “twin style” so it became “Land Before Twins”. It was so fun! Though we obviously have boy and girl twins on the way, I think it would make for a fun shower for a singleton boy or girl too.

Nothing Fits But Kiko Dress in Ichika Print, bought this matching one for my daughter (similar more budget friendly options - this one from Lulu’s, this one from Nasty Gal, this one from Amazon) | American Eagle Shirt | Bonobos Pants
The pictures just don’t do it justice - she went above and beyond down to the last detail. From the waterfall in the corner to our blown up baby pictures, I felt like every direction I turned, there was something special. It was all gorgeous, but the custom cool ranch dorito chip bags were probably my favorite ;)
This was the cutie invitation she sent out! We actually had two LA showers and two separate invites. This shower was smaller and really just family. Space in LA is limited and very different compared to a place like Dallas where most people have houses. We only had apartments to work with and family coming in from out of town, so that’s why it was split into two events. After this intimate gathering, we had another at the beach with more friends in an obviously bigger space. The beach is its own setting, so it was pretty much the same food from earlier, just in different scenery. The beach is free and easy, plus such a great place to have parties and get togethers. A definite plus of being near the water! Both were really great and I’m so glad we were able to celebrate with everyone.
At this shower we had a couple of games. The traditional “don’t say baby” game where you can’t say the baby / babies or you get a point (clothes pin) taken away. We added on derivatives of the word “twins” too! The person with the most points (clothes pins) at the end wins! We also played a question game of “who is most likely to” with the group. For example “who will take the most photos”, “who will read them the most stories”, “who will be more strict” and so on. Everyone raised a pink (jenga) blog for me and a green block for Nick. It was humorous to not only see mine and Nick’s answers, but everyone else’s as well.
Isn’t the balloon arch so cute? My baby picture is on the left and Nick’s is on the right. In the middle is one of our first sonograms that we received. You can see the actual photo here. Photos are always a great personal touch to have at showers, whether they are throwbacks like these or more recent / maternity type shoots.
Can we talk about the charcuterie table?! There was a hummus lion and a cucumber snake, along with lots of yummy cheese, fruit, meat, sandwiches, and spreads. Perfect for our gathering, with plenty leftover for the beach and beyond. The shower was in-between meal times (2:00 - 5:00), so a full meal wasn’t necessary, but the grazing snacks were essential and perfection.
At the end of the day, the shower was about celebrating the twins with those nearest and dearest to us. The details and planning were amazing; however, it was the people who made it! This is such a special time for us and we are so thankful that people loved on us in this way.
Thanks so much for glancing through one of our most special days. We cannot believe the twins will be here in less than 2 months. BRB, got to go straighten up their nursery!!
