Let me start by saying that I have been wearing Outdoor Voices for several years now. I feature their products a lot, but I canā€™t believe that I havenā€™t written a post solely about their brand yet! I meant to write one this summer, but we left for a trip to Mexico and I didnā€™t get the chance to shoot. It was allllll downhill from there. Anyway, Iā€™m excited to share about the brand and why I love it. ALSO, if you shop their styles within the Like To Know it App today, youā€™ll get 25% off! Check my handle @ElleMulenos on the app, as Iā€™m sharing some of my faves, including all of their new leopard print!

The first thing I ever bought from them was a hot pink Athena Crop with ā€œyā€™all, yā€™all, yā€™allā€ printed on the back. It was a limited edition piece, though you can still get the Flamingo hue crop today. Outdoor Voices is based in Austin, Texas, so the ā€œyā€™allā€ was a nod to OV heritage. Being a Texas girl myself, I LOVED it and had to have it. We were lucky enough to have a store in Dallas and even though I moved, there is one in LA, so Iā€™m covered!

Outdoor Voices Athena Crop | Outdoor Voices CloudKnit Sweatpant (c/o) | Nike Tennis Shoes

Outdoor Voices was originally known for its color-blocked sets that you now see everyone and their mom knocking off. Their rec kit was the original! the kit was made to get you a top and a bottom, andddd save you money, since you can get both for $95. Donā€™t worry! You can buy things separately if you want, but let me introduce their 3 main fabrics.

Their original fabric featured in the rec kit is a mid-weight, textured and tightly woven compression. I wear a S in it, but if you are in-between sizes, I would for sure size up. I would have sized up to a M, but the nice OV employee told me to keep the S, as I would probably be pulling up my pants during yoga if I didnā€™t. She was right and I was glad I got the S. I do wear this fabric to yoga, but I prefer to wear it hiking. They also have a TechSweat fabric, which is what I would compare to a Lululemon legging. It is soft and smooth (The rec pant is not scratchy, but it is not smooth.) and very stretchy. I donā€™t know if the newest pants have them, but my original TechSweat leggings have an inner drawstring. If it werenā€™t for that, I wouldnā€™t be able to wear them to workout classes, as I would be pulling on them the entire time. I would probably size down in these for that reason, but like I said, the drawstring saved me and when tied I have no problem in yoga! I have the S sports bra in this fabric too and I could easily do the XS. Anyway, These are super light weight and I love them. I prefer them for yoga over my rec weight. And I freaking need them in this leopard print!! Last but not least is my current favoriteā€¦their CloudKnit fabric! It is a super soft and light fabric that is the comfiest!! I bought my first piece last year - it was just navy short sleeve shirt, but it is one that I continue to reach for. The OV team just sent me these sweatpant joggers (wearing a S - did yoga in them last week and they were great) and a long sleeve tee and they already some of my new favorites! They have a cute hoodie version too and I canā€™t get enough of the hunter green hue!

So those arenā€™t their only 3 fabrics or styles, but they make up the bulk of their line. You have your basics like I have mentioned, but then you also have shorts and skorts, dresses, and bra tops. Their RecTrek durable fabric for doing things outdoors. Donā€™t overlook their hoodie and half-zip section! Oh and want a unitard? All this to say, they have you covered in the recreational arena with whatever you are doing! It should come as no surprise, as their founder Tyler Haney graduated from Parsons School of Design, which is one of the most prominent design schools. Needless to say, she knows what she is doing. I mentioned it above, but other brands are trying to copy her and while they might knock off her look, they donā€™t have the OV heart.

Outdoor Voices Long Sleeve CloudKnit

Yes they make good products, but they are more than what they create. They model on people who look different than what you see on Instagram and truly show diversity. Their sizing only goes up to an XL, but I do know that both Meredith and Ginger from my Style for Every Body series can wear some of their items in XL. (With a fashion background, I understand inventory and only making what sells - for example, working for the Cowboys 3XL was always requested, but made up less than 1% of the yearly buy and 2XL only 2% moreā€¦but that is another story for another day! I am for size inclusivity but see it from both sides.) Regardless, they donā€™t just show ā€œskinny white girlsā€ on their website or Instagram, which is very refreshing! They also are working on sustainability, which I LOVE, because fashion is honestly the worst on the environment. You can read more about their manufacturing here and plans here. Their main mantra is DOING THINGS. Not worrying about being first or the fastest, bit simply showing up. Anddd that my friends is what it is all about!

ALSO, I know most of you are women, but if youā€™re a guy or looking for a gift for the men in your life, they have a mens line too!

P.S. We shot this yesterday morning in Paso Robles. It was so pretty and we had such a good time. Iā€™ll update my travel guide, but in the meantime, you can read about it here!
