Much like a lot of trends, I sit on the sidelines and wait to see if I actually want to participate. These Spanx faux leather leggings were no different. I had seen a lot of people post about them, but knew the price tag ($98) and wasnā€™t sure they were worth it. Until spring of this year I worked for the Dallas Cowboys. Last fall we go licensed Spanx leggings. I got a discount on them, so I thought I might as well try them out now! I had heard to size up, so I made sure to get a M, as I normally wear a S in Nike, Outdoor Voices, and Athleta. Side note - I wear a 6 in Lululemon. I got them in and the M was perfect! Something great about Spanx is that they included extended sizes 1X-3X AND they have a petite offering. If we hadnā€™t moved and were continuing our Style for Every Body series, Spanx leggings were next on the docket to share!

You might be asking yourself okay, well would I even wear leather leggings? Itā€™s honestly a good question, because in my opinion they are a little hard to style. the pair I bought last year are navy. I ended up liking them so much, so I got a black pair from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer. They are compression, so I love how they make me feel, but also they can be styled up or down. My main concern when styling them is covering my butt. Iā€™ve had leather pants before, but these are leggings and I do have some hips, so longer shirts and such are usually my preference.

I actually styled these with a long sleeve tunic sweater over here. One of my favorite ways to wear them is with a long line cardigan, buuut I didnā€™t style them with one here, as I felt like was a gimmie with these. See how I styled them with a long cardigan, white t-shirt and sneakers here and with a long cardigan for more of a work look here . Itā€™s dressing these leggings up that tend to be harder for me, so hereā€™s three 3 ways to wear them this holiday season. Also, today on Instagram Iā€™ll share how I styled my navy pair most recently, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

I styled it first with this buffalo check shirt! Itā€™s super fun for the holidays and is easily layerable. I almost work a black cami under it and left it un-buttoned! Itā€™s from last season, so I linked a similar long sleeve and short sleeve option. No matter the top, I loved pairing these ankle boots with the leggings. It extends my legs and makes them look longer due to the black lines being unbroken by my skin peeping out.

Spanx Faux Leather Leggings | Madewell Blazer | Senreve Clutch (s/o, use code ELLEMULENOS for $50 off w/code ELLEMULENOS) | Cariuma Sneakers (c/o)

This probably my favorite styling of the leggings! Iā€™m wearing my blazer as a top (nothing under it) and since it is kind of an oversized blazer, it covers at least part of my behind - more when its unbuttoned! I dressed down the look with sneakers, but this look would go great with the boots I wore above too.

I know I said the blazer was my favorite, but this one is in a very close second place. I canā€™t stop wearing this poncho!! Itā€™s very oversized chic, which is probably my favorite way to style the leggings. If you donā€™t mind not covering your bottom, then you do you! Itā€™s about what you feel comfortable with. Personally, I would just never wear them to work without hiding my rear! Guess it just depends on your workplace ;)

These leggings are a great option when you have to go into the office and want to be comfortable or even if you want an easy transition from day to night! For the past 5 years Iā€™ve had to be at work the week of Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas, so there were a lot of days I didnā€™t feel like dressing up, but these leggings were a game changer!! I know they are on the pricier side, but think of them like a pant and itā€™s pretty normal. They come in 5 colors and would be a great thing to ask for for Christmas! I have worked out in them before, but I probably wouldnā€™t recommend doing that and would say to just wear them around your house or out. This will help them last longer! Do you have some? Whatā€™s your favorite way to wear them?
