This holiday season, Nick and I road tripped from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Before flying out of SFO, our last leg of the drive was our happy place, Napa Valley! We havenā€™t been back since February 2020. One of our favorite cities in the valley is Calistoga. While we were really sad to see that we can no longer get our favorite chorizo breakfast burrito in the quaint town, we were really happy to have the chance to stay at The Bungalows at Calistoga. Iā€™ve been eyeing their cute cottages since 2019, so I jumped at the chance to be hosted by them.

Keep reading to see what makes the bungalows so special and why we recommend staying there if youā€™re in the valley.

Nick and I try to make a point to visit Napa Valley every and this year (2021) we almost missed it. When we were purchasing flights to Seattle to visit family for Christmas, we found it was insanely expensive to fly out of LAX. After playing around with the airports, we found that it was 50% cheaper to fly out of SFO. We figured we could save a little money and make a fun road trip out of it, checking off Napa as we went. As a bonus, neither of us had visited the valley during Christmastime, so we were stoked to be able to visit our favorite place during the happiest time of the year.

When I first stumbled upon The Bungalows at Calistoga, what struck me about them is that they were so cuteā€¦ modern chic with a trendy twist. Let me tell you, their charm will exceed your expectations. After staying there, two other things stand out to me - their location and their function. The headline is these three bungalows are more than just a pretty face!

LOCATION

Nestled steps from downtown Calistoga, the bungalows are close to all the local action, but not too far from other hot spots should you venture outside of the area. For example, we ate dinner one evening at Farmstead which is one of our favorite restaurants in Saint Helena. Because it was a short trip, we really only visited one winery which was Hall, as we are members there. Both are roughly 20 minutes away from The Bungalows at Calistoga.

We took a couple walks from the bungalows while in town, for both pleasure and for purpose. We showed the twins all the pretty nature and Christmas decorations in downtown Calistoga, while taking all that the area had to offerā€¦ like Cal Mart grocery store for extra diapers (oops) and mountain views for days. We also walked to grab dinner at Samā€™s Social Club, which was just down the street as well. Calistoga isnā€™t as busy as a city compared to others, and thatā€™s honestly one of my favorite things about it.

FUNCTION

Nick and I stayed in Bungalow A, the largest of the offering. Rounding out at 889 square feet, we had plenty of space and then some. The other two bungalows are 718 square feet (B) and 545 square feet (C) respectively; however, all of the bungalows sleep up to four people thanks to a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa. Even with the twins, we would have been okay space-wise with two more people.

With a full kitchen and a washer and dryer, Bungalow A was seriously a DREAM. Thatā€™s honestly why I wanted to mention function. We live in West Los Angeles in a fairly large apartment for the area, but our kitchen is small and we pay to use the community washers and dryers. With newborns, we have been doing laundry quite frequently, so the laundry set up really came in handy. The bathroom was spacious, as was the sitting area. The fireplace and small workspace were great touches too.

I love a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but functional as well, so major props to The Bungalows at Calistoga for being both!

*Note that the bungalows are not baby-proofed nor do the claim to be, but they were perfect for us! We brought this bassinet for the twins to sleep in and kept it at the foot of our bed.

Nick and I LOVED staying at The Bungalows at Calistoga and canā€™t recommend them enough. We adore staying at one-of-a-kind, boutique style places and the bungalows are just that. Definitely consider them for your next trip to the valley. You wonā€™t be disappointedā€¦ only disappointed to leave ;)
